| (KDKA) REGENT SQUARE 5.14.07 Just days before the deployment of the largest unit of Army Reservists from Pittsburgh, local women came together to rally against the War in Iraq. “We’ve been over in Iraq entirely too long,” Eva Havlicsek, of O’Hara Township, said. “I don’t think we should have gone over there in the first place and all we’re doing now is refereeing a civil war.” CodePink, the Pittsburgh chapter of Woman For Peace, rallied this Mother’s Day to bring the American troops home who are in Iraq. The group paid tribute to those local people in the military who have lost their lives since the war began in Iraq. The names of the all those who died from Pennsylvania were read. One local woman remembered her son-in-law who lost his life in June of 2005. “My granddaughter is 5-years-old. She will grow up without her dad,” Debbie Whitfield said. “His family has lost their son. Your children are the most precious thing you have and to have to bury your child is just unfair. It’s not something you could ever prepare yourself for.” More than 400 soldiers of the 316th Army Reserves will head to Iraq on Tuesday. (© MMVII, CBS Broadcasting Inc.
